Today Ana and I got up in paradise. Luckily the night was peaceful after security took care of the Germans. We headed to the Tucans restaurant for breakfast, getting there at the end of course. It was buffet style and yummy. We sat at a table right next to the pool with waterfalls. Breakfast was pleasant in this setting until I saw an animal scampering around the dining room, headed toward us. It was a pizote. It's kinda like a racoon with a long snout and a monkey tail. It was cute, but scared the crap out of Ana. I got a pretty good picture of him though. On the way back to the room we saw suitcases outside of the German's room and heard them. We got scurred so we ran up some steps and walked around so we wouldn't have to cross their room. hehe
We then headed to the hot springs for a last dip before checking out. This time we were prepared and wore our keens since the pool floors were very rocky. We quickly found some choice spots and made some choice poses and it was time to leave the hot springs. We headed back to the hotel changed into long pants and headed back to Arenal Paraiso to drop off our bags before heading to La Fortuna.
In La Fortuna we had enough time to grab a quick bite before our Canopy tour. We headed into the hills near the volcano. We got suited up and ready for some high flying. We had a bunch of guides, led by a funny gal named Maria Jose. Onn our tour was a bunch of folks from GE doing a team building event. They were just beginning their stay in Costa Rica since they were going to be auditing one of the banks in Costa Rica. There happened to be another German in the group, but he was really nice. So Germans were redeemed in our eyes again. :) This canopy had 15 wires and 18 platforms. We went through 3 sections, 2 in the secondary forest and one in the primary forest. AAAAANDDD an Tarzan swing! Which is why I picked this tour over others. The swing was awesome. They strap three ropes to your harness, 2 are bungee style. You hold on to the rope as the guides push you off a platform and you just swing. Swing high too! It was a lot of fun. The whole tour was great. The guides were funny and the folks on our tour were also fun. The tour was called EcoGlide in case you find yourself in Arenal wanting some tree flying action.
After canopy, we headed back to the hotel. Ana and I had planned to go to some dance club in town, but being the end of the trip and not having a good experience going out we opted not to go. Instead we watched a gorgeous sunset from the porch of our wooden cabin. Then we ate a shared dinner at the resort restaurant and retired back to the cabin. Lucky for us we chose to do this since it started raining a lot and did not stop all night long. Tomorrow we were checking out and flying back to San Jose.
